Going home

After many days of sun, surf and catching tan, it's time to head home.

But first, a visit to the outlet stores because come on, you have to.

That adventure was a blast! Thank you, host family!

(Hmm. Where to next, I wonder?)

The Outer Banks

Today, after a lot of driving, we are in Corolla, North Carolina. This area is part of what's called the Outer Banks, on the Currituck Banks peninsula. They're a series of long skinny islands and peninsulas on the far eastern edge of the state.

Corolla has some awesome beaches. Plus this sand is perfect for construction work. This is my domain! I am king of the castle! I just hope the tide doesn't sweep me out to sea.

South of here, on Ocracoke Island, is where the pirate Blackbeard used to hang out. (Arr matey!)

Having loads of fun here. I hope we don't leave any time soon.

Washington, DC

Well, now I know where I am: our nation's capital! This is so exciting. I wonder if I'll be the first Lego person to meet the President.

That monorail-looking thing behind me is a Metro train. We've stopped at a station that says "Smithsonian." Wonder what that could be?

Well, I'll tell you, it looks like this. At least PART of it looks like this. The Smithsonian turns out to be a very big place, especially for a little Lego guy.

We went into the National Museum of American History and looked at the inaugural dresses and other gowns for First Ladies. (Tasteful choice, Edith Wilson.)

I wonder what will happen tomorrow. Do you wonder too? Let's wonder together, shall we?

It's an adVENture!

And the first one I've had for some time, too!

This time I'm going with my host family to... um... hey, where are we going? Nobody told me.

I guess I'll find out when we get there.

Time to come clean...

Some time ago this story crossed the newswires. I think it's time you knew what it was all about.

It's called the Siesta Key Project, and it's one of many related projects designed to raise awareness about the plight of captive Lego people everywhere. Just because we're 1 1/2 inches tall and made of plastic doesn't mean we don't have a BIG desire to get out there and see the world!

The Ministry of Minifigure Travel and Tourism urges you to free your Lego minifigures today and let them have a much-needed vacation. Remember: if you love your Legos, set them free. If they come back to you, they're yours. If they don't, they're probably enjoying the weather on a white sand beach somewhere, so don't take it too personally.

Christmas shopping

Hmm. The other day I kept hearing someone shouting, "Put your Mickey ears on, we're going to Disneyland!" and then suddenly my family was gone. So I did what I usually do under these circumstances.

I went to Seattle to go Christmas shopping.

And what to my wondering eyes should appear...

but a miniature sleigh and five tiny rain-pigs.

Huh.

Well, mine not to question why. Mine to do quite a lot of shopping instead.

You know, the Space Needle looks a lot less tall in person. Just saying.

I wonder what my family might like for Christmas.

Perhaps a festive film?

A Good Kitty ornament. This shopping trip just keeps getting weirder and weirder.

Eventually I found the perfect gift (not shown here so as not to spoil the surprise) and made my purchase. And then I hitched a ride home so as not to be missing when my family returned.

I'm so sneaky.

Turkey dreams

As I slept off the turkey feast, I had a very strange dream.

I dreamt I was in a strange place.

Indiana Jones was there...

and for some reason he tried to rob me.

But all of a sudden this grey-bearded wizard showed up...

and he turned Indy into a chicken.

It was about that time that I decided I should run.

Unfortunately I was so busy running away that I didn't watch where I was going.

Luckily (?) the wizard turned me into a chicken as I fell, so I wasn't hurt.

But just then some evil wizards found me.

Although they turned me back to myself again...

they decided not to let me leave until they'd made me one of them.

So they did!

Gahhh! Just about then I woke up, thank goodness. I didn't really want to be an evil wizard.

[Many thanks to Erik for documenting my dream!]
